Aerospace TIG Practice and a Hack Fixture
In this video I used a MK14 ceramic TIG cup out of one of my new Navigator Gas Lens kits. I get a ton of feedback on the type of kits folks want to see, and this by far was the most requested setup.

TIG Welding Aluminum Techniques & Tips
In this episode you burnt your hand @weldingtipsandtricks and I have a tip and trick so that you can treat a burn in a matter of minutes and carry on with your day, no blisters, no pain, nothing, I can write a description of you think is useful to your subscribers, all it requires is very hot water
Almost the same go's for stainless. Not as dramatic. But dirty contaminated tools. And unclean workplaces will lead to to the compromise of the metal
I was always taught score it then snap it. Sometimes it only takes a little tap to get it to break cleanly.
In this he has an add about the "TIG Finger" and these things are no joke. I consider them an essentials piece of kit. You should weld comfortably for the best welds possible and these little puppies allow just that. keeps me from speeding through the end of filler rods or passes cause my hands feel like they are on fire. I LOVE THESE THINGS. (one thing about them I wish the ends would frey inside but still have one on me all the time!) another great video thanks!
This is great!
Can you tell me the settings of pulse and herz balance ? Thanks
Sweet sounds ❤Sweet arc shoots.
Alhamdulillah
Assalamu alaikum akh
👍👍👍👍
Deferring to you as the expert and then some - wow for the first time I am seeing what I experienced of Ali GMAW/MIG. Without detracting from the generality: the smooth soft hiss; the electro-etching action around the weld; zero spatter; your almost straight run (I always did constant smooth straight run with Ali GMAW when allowed to); bit of sooting beyond the electro-etch band (but not much - your Ali is 5000 (Al-Mg) or 6000 (Al-Si-Mg) ? Loving seeing something I recognise. BTW getting home from day of setting up a major job (no photos permitted), found I was within Amps and a Volt or two of the Lincoln Foundation recommendation ("Procedures Handbook" (it's more like a door-stop!)). So and observant welder going with what Nature shows arrives at what Lincoln recommended for Ali-GMAW maybe 60 years ago.
Sometimes I start welding in AC when DC is needed.. 😅😂
Thoriated and ceriated can handle being snapped, if youre careful about how you so it. Rare earth, not so much
Love the video.
?
Thanks 👍❤.
Can we have a video where you steo on your purdge line and pull it out of sanitary tubing? 😂
😀😀😀
Thanks sir
So Nice
This should be on done negative with a 4mm gap 3.25mm rod 2mm root face and a horseshoe motion.
Can you swap the polarity on a minimal performance welder that has just 2 switches and a spoolfeed dial?
My last "serious" shop instruction was around 1969. I know I had a knowledgable shop teacher but, unfortunately, I was not a serious student when it came to learning. So, this instruction is just what I need now that I'm a retired grandpa who is ready to learn about welding. Thanks for giving me this great start!
Im in ireland and wanting to learn. Will all this translate to over here or should i learn else where? Il be in college doing welding soon, would like to learn prior
Thoughts on the flex heads?
Handy. But sometimes not stiff enough for walking cup
saludos que consejo me puedes con 4f en gmaw para no quemarme con las chispas
I find great for 5356 . But not 4043 , I run gas lens , just keeps it a bit cooler and less grainy finish .
Jody has one of the best, most informative, weld channels on the net.
I’m doing a project with 1/4” aluminum. It’s a big project with a lot of mass and I’ve been trying to TIG weld it with my 210A Miller machine, but it’s barely enough and it overheats constantly. I want to switch to a spool gun but I’m having trouble figuring out what type of spool gun I need for it. I’ve seen 135A, 150A, 200A, 250A options, etc but what do I actually need? I don’t want to spend too much but it needs to be enough for the job.
Beautiful welds my brother
I would like to try this. Should it be welded in time? blueprint available somewhere?
My mvp came out the box with polarity for flux🤷♂️
#6 is my favorite all around, especially for aluminum
HogOn Family ‼️🔥
Jody I know you have a good thing going with furick, no doubt the jazzy 10 is one of the best cups ever, but lately I've been running a tigware Teflon #10 for durability.
Interesting
Nice!
what was temperature on the but joint and were did you set the gas
Thank you for the great tips!
Ευχαριστώ πολυ.ειναι η πρωτη φορα που βλεπω root pass με αυτόματη.
Where did they get the titanium plates from I would like to buy some to practice with
For anyone wondering, "Mk14" is the Furick Moose Knuckle.
hi man I'm from Pakistan need Job experience 4 years
Tig looks so easy man I knew it was gonna be hard but something about the torch looked so comfortable but I can’t seem to get comfortable
I can NOT imagine being able to do that.
It’s really not to bad it’s all heat control
Heat control + gas coverage + pretty good backpurging.
@@fishingforfun2623 Well...don't discount the experience and hand-art of it. I've spent 2 hours on a stick welder making a mess of bog-standard big box cold rolled, so this seems like witchcraft to me.
@@walterdeppe9669 Is backpurging...what it sounds like? I know half past nothing about welding and am still soaking this all in.
@@madwilliamflint "Backpurging" is necessary if you weld stainless steel. The backing gas protects your root from oxidation.
Awesome welds
The names of these cups are hilarious. Is it a coincidence or what… FUPA, BBW 😂.
I learned more from you than all the Lincoln brand videos. Thanks.
I almost totally smoked my 20 series tig torch ..my water line leaked and she run dry on me I felt it getting hot...
